However it is excellent for layout where you are going to nail or screw something together. As I said it was almost a permanent bond but also it is so thin getting a chisel in between to separate the pieces would be difficult. I also found a mylar type tape that was double sided, and they also sale a double sided tape that has various thicknesses of a foam like material between the two sides. I found a tape much like masking tape that was double sided. When you get in to more secure pressure sensitive adhesives, laminating, mounting, or transfer adhesives that will hold the template rock solid, the work that goes in to prepping, applying, and removing the template will often be far more than figuring out a layout of mechanical fasteners instead.There are many double sided carpet tapes sold at Home Depot. Then again, you also may run some risk of slipping, or vibrations at the joint leaving a less than clean edge.Īny adhesive that will remove easily without aid of solvents is by design a fairly weak adhesive. ![]() It's forgiving of imperfect surfaces, should hold well enough for decently clean cuts if you have enough surface area, and will usually clean up relatively easily if you don't leave it on any longer than necessary. If you can not find any reasonable way to secure the template with mechanical fasteners though (clamps or screws), then you are probably best off just using standard indoor/outdoor carpet tape from your local hardware. ![]() Temporarily securing router templates is not one of those applications these adhesives are especially designed or ideally suited for. ![]() "Double sided tape" is an incredibly broad category with thousands of very different products that cover hundreds of applications.
